Education For Every Age

Why should society feel responsible only for the education of children, and not for the education of all adults of every age?  ~Erich Fromm

We all have a lot to learn from one another.

As a teacher I had heard of the notion of continuation programs throughout a child’s life and onto adulthood, but quite frankly who would manage the curriculum? Who would really take the time to study it?

Well, there are dedicated people who already have. People like Walter Mischel and, The Marshmallow Test. CEO Michael E. Parker and Lifeskills411, or Nobel Prize Winner James Heckman and his heart warming study on Early Childhood Development.

It didn’t take long for me to connect the dots that I had to do something with my life to keep adding value to myself. I still can remember that fortune cookie I cracked open as a kid that read, ‘He who stands still in life walks backwards.’ It rattled me. But in a good way.

It’s kind of funny how I seemed to always spend more money for my job than I actually made.  Funny, but not really. The tiny little income I made as a teacher, well-let’s face it, I’m not getting any fresher and my salary won’t get any higher. Quick as a bunny I had to think of something.

I started to follow Michael E. Parker’s work and realized something. I recognized that as a teacher myself he made an excellent one himself. He had clearly given away the entire curriculum everyone has been looking for from grade school with the Lifeskills411 Program to Adult (with the You Are a CEO movement) in one fatal swoop.

I had been touched by the transparency of his life, but I never really thought of his life story of helping others as being the answer so many are looking for.

The answer economists like James Heckmen are interested, in plus, the reality of residual income. Now I call that thirty-two flavors and then some.

I am glad to be a part of such a powerful movement. Powerful, yet somewhat secret for now.

I’m sure not for long. Not for long because our time is coming….
